King of the Jungle

This man does not need any introduction. You don’t even need to see his face to know his legacy. And so, having Noisekick on the line-up of We Cause Violence III is just an honour. So let’s see what he is up to today.

Back in the days, what was your reason to start playing/producing?

When the terror subgenre began to emerge from the faster, harder, and darker side of hardcore, I was immediately fascinated by it. I had the feeling that I could do this too, but even better, with all the ideas I had for it. When I finally got the right computer software for it, Fasttracker 2, I was finally able to turn my creativity into music.

What are/were the highlights of your career thus far?

I think the greatest thing I achieved is the Terrordrang family I built up over the years. Both artists and visitors, from all over the world. Club Rodenburg as the homebase gives me goosebumps every time. But also Terrordrang on Tour editions in Tokyo and Mexico were amazing. And, of course, don’t forget the stage hostings at multiple different big festivals. The Terrordrang concept has grown to a household name.

According to you, what does the terror scene need right now?

That’s actually pretty easy: new good music. We need to release good quality terror and the rest will take care of itself. This isn’t happening enough right now, and yes, I’m also partly to blame for that, too.

You already did pretty much everything as an artist, but are there still things on your artist bucket list you would like to do?

Actually no. I’ve done everything I wanted to do already. Although I’d really want to make some new tracks again. Who knows, maybe it will happen some day.

How’s life in Nicaragua? Is it possible to combine with your music career?

Living here in the middle of the jungle, at the foot of a volcano near Cocibolca, is more than beautiful. It’s difficult to combine this life with my music. It’s a long trip back to Europe, with no direct flights and long distances to the nearest airports. This makes it very complicated.

Are there any special projects on the horizon?

Good question, who knows?

How did the collaboration with Speedcore Italia come about, for example with the Deadtown area of Terrordrang?

Back in the days, I saw that Valerio (Nekrosystem) was doing a great job with Speedcore Italia. And because the second stage of Terrordrang was always a speedcore area, I thought: maybe it’s a good idea to ask him to do this. Pretty obvious actually. Valerio really liked the idea, and the rest is history.

What makes the Mikroport Club in Krefeld special, according to you?

This club is by far ideal for our kinds of music. The sound is extremely hard and the areas fit perfectly, with a lot of smoke and stroboscopes. The owner, Fabian, fits perfectly in this image as well. He loves it and knows exactly what we need for our events.

What do you think about the We Cause Violence concept?

The concept looks amazing. The line-up is amazing and I think we will blast off the roof!

The following week, Terrordrang the Bonus Round will take place. What went through your mind when you heard that an extra edition could be held after all?

The moment Club Rodenburg called, I was just on the ferry in the middle of Lake Cocibolca. I thought they were joking, the club stayed open for another six months? That’s impossible. I really got an error in my brain. I thought it would’ve been amazing to do another edition of Terrordrang, but at the same time I thought that people would feel ripped off if I would do another event after ‘The Final Edition’. So I set up a poll on my social media accounts to find an honest answer. 99 percent of the people voted yes for another edition. So let’s blast off for the last time!

What advice would you give to new terror artists?

Take a class of social media training and try to make it on platforms like Instagram and TikTok. At the moment, that’s the most important. Music comes second right now.

Any last words you want to share?

I can’t wait to see you all the 2nd May at We Cause Violence. Let’s make it a great event! Cheers from the Nicaraguan jungle.
