Dropping bombs on the system

During the second edition of Nekrosystem's Forbidden Zone, we have the third area hosted by our companions at Survival Darkness, to fill the area with some heavy industrial and breakcore mayhem. One of the hitters is Nagazaki, that was blasting fast to anwswer our interview questions. So no more waiting, let's get right into it.

Hi man, can you introduce yourself?

Hi, my name is Nagazaki. I'm a DJ/producer/visual artist/owner of Prototypes Records, originally from Baguetteland France. I've been producing all kinds of electronic music for about 10 years!

How did you get in touch with the hardcore scene?

I discovered hardcore music in high school, with tracks by Angerfist such as "Knock Knock" and "Street Fighter". Then I delved deeper and deeper into it, and I discovered industrial hardcore with artists such as N-Vitral, Detest, Sei2ure, The Satan, and eDUB, who inspired me greatly.

My very first contact with breakcore was Ruby My Dear - Brame, an album that completely blew me away. It was so different from other hardcore music, but so interesting and refreshing! Then I discovered Stazma, Krumble, Rotator, Stellabee, and many others, and the rest is history.

How would you describe your style?

It's hard to say, but I would define my music as eclectic hard break industrial music hahahaha. I like to mix different genres - pop, EDM, disco, midtempo et cetera - in my tracks. Basically, my music is mainly composed of industrial kicks, lots of amen breaks and a few funky (random) samples.

How's the breakcore scene in your home country/surroundings, if there is any?

From what I can see, it seems like the breakcore scene in France has taken a break (badum tsss). It's a small niche within an already very niche genre, and it's not as popular as it used to be. There are still some incredible producers, but if we focus on events, they are really scarce. I know a few crews in the UK who still organize parties, others in Belgium, and a few in the US and Mexico. I think we really need more breakcore events in Europe.

Where do you get inspiration from making your music?

When it comes to inspiration, anything can be a source. I love listening to pop music, ambient, hyperpop, video game soundtracks and more. There are so many cool things in these genres. Sometimes also TV series and movies. I like to discover things for myself by randomly clicking around on the internet, haha.

What's your thing with Jägermeister?

Some people would say it's an addiction, but I prefer to call it a passion 😉. I would love for Prototypes Records to be sponsored by Jägermeister. Recently, we discovered Strong Zero; a Japanese beer mixed with vodka and lemon. Apart from Jägermeister, it might be my favorite drink because it's cheap, it tastes good, and it's super effective, hahaha.

You already played at We Cause Violence, a predecessor of Forbidden Zone 2, how did you experience this event?

We Cause Violence was super fun. Lots of great artists, really good music from both industrial and terror enjoyers, and lot of friends. So, it’s like family meeting party!

What's your view about the upcoming event?

In a few words: pure destruction! This is going to be really sick. As always a ton of cool artists in one of the coolest venues. This can only be a good combo!

What do you think about the collaboration between Survival and Speedcore Italia?

Definitely something great! I'm really excited about the idea of the collaboration between both of these crews. They have different music proposals, but it's the same dark vibe. Both crews are putting some lights on music we don't hear often enough, total respect!

Is there anything you are looking forward to during this event?

Another tough question! I'm really curious to see and hear that versus of Hydroxide and The Darkness! Also, Redogre. I saw him in Japan, super entertaining. I can’t miss that one either!!!

Why would people go to your set?

People should come, because almost 50 percent of my set is based on new material. Last time, at We Cause Violence, I didn't play enough breakcore music in my opinion. These last months I locked myself in the studio, working on a bunch of new tracks for this event, so I hope people will come and hear some funky music!

Any last words?

Support the scene, treat yourself and come to the event! No matter if you like speedcore, terror, industrial, breakcore or whatever, it's impossible to be disappointed! See you there!!

Thanks again to Nagzaki for this interview and we'll see you in a couple of days at Nekrosystem's Forbidden Zone. Are you excited as well, then we'll see you the 22nd of November in the Mikroport Club during Nekrosystem's Forbidden Zone 2.
